To love hurts. It's like giving yourself up to be skinned and knowing that at any moment the other person could leave taking your skin with them.
I write to define myself, an act of self-creation, in a dialogue with myself, with writers I admire, both living and dead, and with ideal readers. Because it gives me pleasure. I'm not sure exactly what purpose my work serves.
